This year, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible but endangered marine animals of the Arctic and Antarctic. Each distance represents the number of animals remaining, helping to raise awareness for their survival. The physical badges, available from Sea Lanes reception, help raise funds for Sussex Bay, which uses donations to restore marine, river, and intertidal ecosystems along the Sussex coast, protecting biodiversity and supporting sustainable communities.

Choose your distance and swim! Complete one or all five challenges between December and February:

  • Snowy Owl – 15KM (300 lengths)
A light but spirited challenge to keep your winter swims soaring.
  • Polar Bear – 25KM (500 lengths)
Strong, steady, and built for cold water endurance.
  • Orca – 50KM (1000 lengths)
Fast, powerful, and ready to take on longer swims.
  • Beluga Whale – 150KM (3000 lengths)
A long-distance journey for swimmers who thrive on stamina.
  • Emperor Penguin – 350KM+ (7000 lengths)
The ultimate winter challenge, for the most resilient swimmers.

Your swims can take place anywhere, pool or open water, as long as they’re tracked. But if you’re local, we’d love to see you at Sea Lanes Brighton.
